So here’s the situation. My parents are finally moving out of the home they’ve lived in for over 30 years. They’re heading from Mississauga to Georgetown to be closer to my sister and her kids. Emotionally, it’s a big deal for them. Logistically, it’s becoming a full-time job for me. I’ve been helping them sort through boxes of old dishes, antique furniture, framed family photos, and all the usual “we might need this one day” clutter that’s piled up over the decades.
There’s no way I’m letting them try to handle the move themselves, but I also don’t want to hire just anyone. I started looking for local moving companies with decent reputations and found aleksmoving.ca. Their website makes a good first impression. It says they’re a family-owned business with years of experience doing residential and long-distance moves across Ontario. They offer packing, disassembly, and even junk removal, which honestly sounds perfect for what my parents need.
But I know how moving companies can be. You don’t really know what you’re getting until it’s moving day. Some are amazing and take the stress off your shoulders. Others show up late, damage half your stuff, and then hand you a bill that looks nothing like the quote. That’s why I’m posting here — I’d much rather hear from real people.
If anyone here has actually used Aleks Moving, I’d love to know how the experience went. Were they on time? Did they take care of your belongings? How was the communication before and during the move? And most importantly, was the final cost close to what you were told up front?
We’re really hoping to make this a smooth transition for my parents without any unnecessary stress. If you’ve got any feedback — good or bad — or other moving company recommendations in the GTA, I’d really appreciate hearing them.
Thanks in advance.
