The best way to convert OST to PST file is to use a third party tool like Stellar Converter for OST. This tool works with full precision keeping the mailbox hierarchy intact without any data loss. If your OST file is inaccessible or is disconnected from the exchange server, then also this tool works perfectly. The tool is also used and approved by many MVPs and admins for its reliability. To use this tool you just simply need to download it from the official website and follow the below steps:
1. When you open the software you can see that a dialog box comes at first which has 2 options: “List Profile” and “Choose Manually”. The “List Profile” automatically detects your configured OST file and selects it and the “Choose Manually” lets you choose the OST file you want to convert to PST file. Select the “Choose Manually” option.
2. Once you have selected your OST file then click on “Convert”. The software now actually starts scanning your OST file
3. Once your OST file is scanned then you can preview to see all the data that was present in the OST file is intact.
4. Then click on “Save Converted file” under the “Home” menu. Here you can see the multiple formats in which OST file can be exported. These formats include PST, EML, RTF, PDF, MSG, HTML and MBOX (for Technician Version). Click on the “PST” format to export your OST file to PST.
So, in this way you can convert your OST file to PST file and Stellar Converter for OST should be your go-to tool for the same.

Converting an OST file to PST isn’t always straightforward because OST files are basically “cached” copies tied to a specific Outlook profile. But you can convert them using a few safe methods:
1. Export via Outlook (if the account/profile is still accessible):
Go to File → Open & Export → Import/Export → Export to a file → Outlook Data File (.pst).
This is the safest built-in method.
2. Use “Open Outlook in Offline Mode”
If the original account still exists, disconnect the internet and export the mailbox to PST just like above.
3. Use a reliable OST → PST converter tool (if the profile is corrupted or inaccessible):
There are tools like Stellar Converter, SysTools, or Kernel OST to PST that can extract the data when Outlook can’t open the OST anymore.
4. Restore from server (if using Exchange/Office 365):
Sometimes, instead of converting OST, you can simply create a fresh Outlook profile and let the mailbox resync.
Choose the method based on whether you still have access to the original Outlook profile. If not, a converter tool is usually the quickest fix.
