Where Qatar Airways Has Suspended Flights Right Now
The most significant disruption is in Saudi Arabia. In mid-October, the airline paused all flights to and from Riyadh and Dammam after a wave of attacks on airports in the Kingdom. No restart date has been given, and the suspension remains in place until the airline says otherwise.

Just before that, several Doha-Riyadh round trips were cancelled on October 9 and 10 for operational reasons. Reports also pointed to Riyadh’s main airport staying closed until around October 17, so check whether that closure has been extended.

Longer-Term Qatar Airways Suspended Flights
Not every cancellation is sudden. The airline’s winter 2026/27 schedule leaves out around a dozen destinations, including Hamburg, Malta, Sofia and Venice. Some may return from late March 2027, although airlines often revise these plans.

Earlier in the year, flights to Bahrain, Kuwait and Erbil were also halted for a period. Past suspensions don’t tell you today’s status, so always check your specific route.

What About Doha Airport?
Hamad International Airport, Qatar’s main hub, is not reported as shut down. Even so, travellers connecting through Doha should expect occasional retiming or rerouting when regional airspace restrictions shift, especially on journeys across the Gulf and Middle East.

If Your Flight Is Cancelled: Steps to Take
  1. Check your booking. Use the airline’s website or app to confirm your flight status.
  2. Keep your contact details current. Affected passengers are typically contacted directly, so make sure your email and phone number are correct.
  3. Know your options. Depending on your fare and the cause of the disruption, you may be offered rebooking, rerouting or a refund. Read the airline’s current travel alert for the exact terms.
  4. Recheck before leaving for the airport. Look again within 24 hours of departure, as schedules can change at short notice.
  5. Read your insurance policy. Coverage for disruption linked to conflict or security events varies widely between insurers.

The Bottom Line
Qatar Airways suspended flights on specific routes, mainly to Saudi Arabia, while the rest of its network continues to operate. Before you book or travel, confirm your exact route, read the latest alerts, and make sure the airline can reach you if plans change.
