The easiest way to remove duplicate files from OneDrive is to use an automated duplicate-finding tool instead of checking every folder manually. When a OneDrive account has been used for several years, it is common to have multiple copies of the same documents, photos, videos, audio files, backups, or other data. These duplicates may have been created because files were uploaded more than once, synchronized from different devices, or copied into different folders. Finding them individually can take a lot of time, especially when the storage contains a large number of files.

The SysInfo OneDrive Duplicate File Finder provides a straightforward way to handle this situation. After opening the tool, you can sign in to your Personal or Business OneDrive account and review the storage summary. Instead of opening folders one by one, select the Scan All Folders option. The tool scans the OneDrive storage and identifies folders where duplicate items are present. Once the scan is finished, the detected folders are displayed so that you can focus on the locations that actually contain duplicate data.

For example, imagine that you have the same project document saved in several different OneDrive folders. Rather than remembering the location of each copy and comparing them yourself, you can select the relevant folder and choose Find All Duplicates. The tool then displays the duplicate files found during the scan. This can be useful when your OneDrive contains documents as well as images, videos, audio files, archives, backup files, and other supported formats.

One important part of the process is reviewing the results before removing anything. The SysInfo OneDrive Duplicate File Finder provides options to view the detected files and selectively choose duplicates. This means you do not have to remove every file identified by the scan without checking it first. The tool's duplicate detection process checks metadata and binary data to determine whether files are actually identical. This is useful because two files may have the same or similar names without necessarily being the same file. Comparing the file information helps distinguish genuine duplicates from files that only appear similar.

After reviewing the results, you can decide what should happen to the unwanted copies. The tool provides two options: Move to Bin and Delete Permanently. Moving files to the Bin can be useful when you want an opportunity to restore them later, while permanent deletion removes the selected duplicates completely. You can therefore review the detected files first and then choose the removal method that suits your situation.
