Keeping your raw hair bundles soft, silky, and completely tangle-free requires a dedicated routine because raw hair hasn't been chemically processed. Unlike synthetic or heavily processed virgin hair that relies on temporary silicone coatings, raw hair behaves just like natural human hair growing directly from a scalp—meaning it relies entirely on you for hydration, proper cleansing, and protection.
Keeping your raw bundles hydrated is essential. Since you had your bundles chopped off of your scalp, it naturally takes more moisture for you. This makes the hair dry out easily if not taken cared of properly!
Always wash your hair with sulfate-free and moisture-rich shampoo, as that would clean the hair without taking out its natural moisture and apply a deep, moisture-sealing conditioner.
Apply some conditioner to your hair, and using your wide-tooth comb (or flexi-brush), comb through from your roots to ends. Never pull or force your way through knots from top to bottom, as this breaks the hair cuticles, leads to split ends, and causes persistent tangling later on.
This ability to glide from wash to wash relies in great part on having light hair oil readily available. One to three drops of 100% argan oil or a light jojoba oil massaged onto the ends each morning, and the ends will seal in moisture without a heavy or greasy feel that attracts dust – the often unseen culprit for knotting at the base of the neck.
Nighttime care is equally critical for preventing tangles. Sleeping on raw hair without securing it creates friction against your pillowcase, leading to severe frizz and knotting by morning. Always wrap your hair with the help of a silk or satin scarf, put it in soft braids, or sleep on a 100% mulberry silk pillowcase. If you wear your raw bundles as an install or wig, detangle it gently every night before wrapping it up.
Your raw hair bundles can stay silky, soft, and tangle-free for years with weekly (every other week) deep condition treatments, minimal heat, and your Bonnet.
