I am fairly new here and thought this community would be a good place to ask since I have seen quite a few useful tool recommendations and how to threads in this section already.
The issue I keep running into is that when I try to save Instagram videos for offline viewing they end up either heavily compressed or the app I use adds a watermark on top. This is a problem since I mostly need this for saving reels and video posts I want to keep for reference later and not for reposting anywhere.
This has been going on for a while now because I usually collect certain reels for inspiration or for showing to friends and family later, and when the quality drops so much it kind of defeats the purpose of saving them in the first place since details get blurry and colors look washed out compared to how they originally appeared on the app.
Some of the apps I tried before also required installing extra software on my phone or computer, and a few of them even asked for login access to my Instagram account which made me uncomfortable since I did not want to hand over my credentials to some random third party tool just to save a video. On top of that some of those tools were painfully slow or filled with so many ads and popups that it took longer to get through the process than it did to actually watch the video.
After dealing with all of that for some time I decided to look around a bit more and eventually found a browser based tool called indown.mobi where you simply paste the post link into the site and it lets you download the video directly without needing any account login or any extra app installation on your device. What stood out to me was that the quality stayed very close to the original version and there was no watermark added on top of the video which was the main issue I was trying to avoid, and the whole process only took a few seconds from pasting the link to getting the file saved.
Just wanted to share this here in case anyone else in the community was dealing with the same compression or watermark issue while trying to save Instagram content, and I am also curious if others here have found a different method or tool that works well for saving Instagram videos or reels in good quality without these kinds of problems, since it seems like a pretty common thing people run into when trying to keep a copy of content they like.
