Larsen & Toubro's CSR programmes reached more than 1.9 million people across India in FY 2025-26, spanning education, water conservation, skill development, and community welfare. The scale of the numbers points to a company treating social impact as a structured, measurable part of its business — not a peripheral activity.

STEM Education at Scale

Project Jyoti reached 51,741 students across 341 schools this year, with a focus on improving Mathematics and Science learning outcomes. The programme is designed to feed into India's longer-term innovation and STEM talent pipeline.

Community Development Across Eastern India

Project Nayi Disha supported more than 26,000 people across Jharkhand, Bihar, and Odisha through integrated interventions in education, healthcare, women's empowerment, and livelihood support — regions where these gaps tend to be most acute.

Building a Skilled Workforce

Through its 10 Construction Skills Training Institutes, L&T trained over 13,000 youth in industry-relevant vocational skills this year, adding to a workforce pipeline the company will need as it expands across infrastructure and manufacturing.

Water Security Through Project Unnati

Project Unnati supported over 30,000 households across Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu, covering more than 46,000 hectares. The programme contributed to an average 9.95-metre rise in groundwater levels across the areas it operates in — a significant number for rural water security.

Alignment With National Priorities

These programmes track closely with several Government of India initiatives — Skill India, the Jal Jeevan Mission, Jal Shakti Abhiyan, and the National Education Policy — suggesting a deliberate effort to complement public development goals rather than operate independently of them.

The Broader Picture Under S N Subrahmanyan

Under L&T Chairman S N Subrahmanyan, the company has positioned CSR as central to its growth narrative rather than a compliance exercise. Reaching close to two million people in a single year places L&T among the more active corporate participants in India's push toward the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, and reflects S N Subrahmanyan's stated view that industrial growth and social impact should move together.
