Honestly, I never thought I would be the kind of person who researches fuel additives.
But after noticing my car's mileage drop from 16 km/l to around 13 km/l over the last few months — with no changes in my driving habits — I started digging into what was actually going on.
Turns out, I am not alone.
A lot of Indian car owners are experiencing the same thing right now. Lower mileage, rougher engine feel, occasional knocking — and nobody is talking about why.

What Changed?

The big shift happened when E20 petrol became the standard across India. For those who don't know — E20 means your petrol now contains 20% ethanol. The government mandated it nationwide from April 2026.
Ethanol has lower energy content than regular petrol. So naturally, mileage drops — typically 5 to 10%. That explains a lot.
But it is not just mileage. Ethanol also attracts moisture, causes faster carbon buildup on fuel injectors, and can make engines rougher over time — especially in city driving conditions where engines never really get a proper run.
I started asking around — mechanic said everything is fine, service centre said same thing. But the mileage was still low.

Then I Started Looking at Fuel Additives

I was skeptical honestly. Felt like one of those products that promise everything and deliver nothing.
But after reading about PEA — Polyetheramine — based additives, things started making more sense. PEA is actually a proper cleaning agent that removes carbon deposits from fuel injectors. Not a gimmick — it is the same technology used in premium fuels globally.
The problem is most fuel additives sold in India are imported products made for European or American conditions — different fuel grades, different temperatures, different driving patterns.

That Is When I Found Tripleshot

Tripleshot Fuel Performance Additive is an Indian fuel additive brand — and what caught my attention was that it is specifically formulated for Indian BS6 engines, E20 petrol and Indian driving conditions.
They have two products:

Tripleshot Octane All-in-One — for petrol cars. Combines PEA injector cleaning with octane improvement and E20 protection.

Tripleshot Cetane All-in-One — for diesel cars. Boosts cetane by 8-12 points, deep cleans injectors and reduces engine noise.

Both are priced at ₹550 — which honestly is reasonable considering what injector cleaning costs at a service centre.

I have been using it regularly since and the difference in smoothness is noticeable. Mileage has also improved compared to where it had dropped.
If you are dealing with similar issues — worth checking out at their official website and they are available on amazon also!

Has anyone here also use them? I'd love to hear honest feedback.
