Posting this partly as a question and partly to share what I found out since I couldn't get clear answers when I first searched.
I've only ever taken the train between Jamnagar and Ahmedabad, but for an upcoming trip, the train timing didn't match what I needed, so I started looking into a Jamnagar to Ahmedabad taxi service as an alternative. Wanted to know from anyone who's done this drive recently, how's the road condition and roughly how long should I budget.
After posting this, I ended up booking with MrCabby through mrcabby.in just to test it out myself before my actual travel date, and figured I'd update this thread with what I learned.
The distance is around 320 km, going through Rajkot and Surendranagar. Total drive time for us was just under five and a half hours, including a short stop. Road condition was mostly fine, a few rough patches but nothing that made the ride uncomfortable. Rajkot city traffic added a bit of time since we passed through during a slightly busier hour, so if you can time your departure to avoid late morning through Rajkot, that probably helps.
Vehicle options were sedan or SUV, I went with sedan since it was just me traveling alone with one bag. Pricing was shown clearly before I confirmed the booking, no changes once we started.
The driver was on time for pickup from my address in Jamnagar city, and communicated clearly about the stop timing when I asked for a short break midway.
For anyone else who's used to trains and is considering switching to a cab for this route, my honest take is that it's more convenient timing wise since you're not restricted to train schedules, but you do need to budget slightly more time for road stops and traffic compared to what a train timetable would show you.
If anyone else has done this route recently, curious to hear if the Surendranagar stretch has always had those rough patches or if it's a recent thing due to construction.
