Hi, my name is Emma, and I’ve been facing a major performance issue on my Android phone recently, and I honestly don’t understand what exactly is causing it. Earlier, my phone used to work perfectly fine. Apps opened quickly, multitasking was smooth, games ran properly, and there was no lag during normal usage. But after installing many apps over time, the device performance has become extremely poor.
Now the phone feels slow almost all the time. Even basic tasks like opening WhatsApp, browsing social media, watching videos, or switching between apps sometimes take several seconds. The keyboard occasionally freezes while typing, apps crash randomly, and the phone becomes unresponsive for a few moments during normal use. Gaming performance has also become much worse compared to before. Games that previously worked smoothly now show frame drops, lag, overheating, and delayed touch response.
One thing I noticed is that the storage keeps filling up very quickly. Even after deleting photos, videos, and downloaded files, the available space still becomes low again after some time. I think many apps are creating hidden files, cache data, temporary files, duplicate media, and leftover folders in the background. When I check storage settings, I often see categories like “Other Files” or “Cached Data” taking a large amount of space, but I’m not sure which files are actually safe to remove.
Another issue is battery drain and background activity. Some apps continue running even when I’m not actively using them. Because of this, RAM usage stays high, battery drains faster, and the phone sometimes heats up during light usage as well. I tried uninstalling a few apps and clearing cache manually, but the improvement only lasts for a short time before the lag starts again.
I really don’t want to factory reset the device because I have important personal data, accounts, apps, and settings stored on it. I’m looking for a simple and beginner-friendly solution that can help clean unnecessary files, optimize storage, remove junk data, and improve overall performance without deleting important files. Is there any easy way to detect hidden storage usage, clear unwanted files safely, and make the phone smooth again without needing advanced technical knowledge?
