I’ve been seeing a lot of people jump into finance advertising lately, and honestly, I get why. The niche looks super profitable from the outside. But at the same time, I kept wondering… how do beginners even start without burning through their budget in the first week?

That was exactly my situation a few months ago. I had zero real experience, just watched a few videos and read random posts. Everyone made it sound easy, but once I actually tried running ads, things got confusing fast. Costs were higher than I expected, and conversions didn’t come in as easily as those “success stories” made it seem.

One big mistake I made early on was trying to go too broad. I thought targeting more people meant more chances to win, but it actually did the opposite. My budget got drained quickly, and I had no clear idea what was working. It felt like guessing instead of testing.

After a bit of trial and error, I started focusing on smaller, more specific audiences. That alone made a noticeable difference. I also stopped trying too many ad formats at once. Instead, I picked one format, tested it properly, and only moved on after I understood the results. It sounds simple, but it helped me stay in control of my spending.

Another thing that helped was actually reading a proper guide instead of jumping between random tips. I came across this detailed breakdown on finance advertising while searching for beginner advice. It gave me a clearer picture of how things work, especially around budgeting and targeting, which I was completely guessing before.

I’m not saying I’ve mastered it now, but I’ve definitely stopped losing money blindly. I’ve learned to treat it more like testing and less like gambling. Small budgets, clear tracking, and patience seem to matter way more than trying to scale too quickly.

If you’re just starting out, I’d say don’t rush it. It’s tempting to go big after seeing others succeed, but finance advertising has a learning curve. Losing a bit in the beginning might be normal, but losing everything usually comes down to skipping the basics.

Curious if others had a similar experience or figured out a better way to start without that initial loss?
