Hi everyone, I’m Sunny from the USA and I’m happy to finally post here in the international zone on Ziuma. I’ve been reading threads quietly for a while and really like how people here share knowledge, help each other out, and talk about all kinds of topics in a relaxed and friendly way. Over the last few years I’ve joined different forums, small communities, and niche sites, and I’ve noticed that a simple “about me” can make it much easier to start real conversations instead of feeling like a stranger in every new place. A short introduction helps other members understand who you are, what you’re interested in, and why you’re here, without needing a long backstory in every single reply.
Right now I’m trying to create a short profile bio that I can reuse on multiple sites without it looking like spam or advertising. I’d like it to mention a few basic things about me: I’m 2000‑born, I enjoy browsing forums, working on small web projects, discovering new tools and services, and most evenings you’ll find me chilling in a comfy parke pullover hoodie while I read posts, watch videos, or listen to music. I’m not here to push any products or break any rules, I just want something that sounds like a real person who likes being part of an online community and respects the different cultures and guidelines of each site. I know that international forums like this one have members from many countries, with different languages and backgrounds, so I also want my bio to feel polite and easy to understand for everyone.
My question for you all: what do you think makes a good “about me” on a forum like this? Do you prefer very short intros (one or two sentences), or do you like when members share a bit more about their background, age, and interests so you can relate to them more easily? Are there any phrases that make you immediately trust or distrust a new profile when you see their introduction for the first time? For example, do you feel more comfortable when someone mentions their hobbies and what they hope to learn here, or do you prefer something very neutral?
If you have examples of bios that feel friendly, honest, and not too long, I’d really appreciate if you could share them here or describe what you like about them. Any tips on wording, what to avoid (for example, too many links, too much self‑promotion, or copying the same text everywhere), and how to keep things comfortable for an international audience would be super helpful. I’m especially interested in how to sound genuine while still keeping things short enough that people will actually read it.
Thank you in advance for reading this long message and for any advice you can give. I hope I can learn from your experience, improve my intro, and also contribute to other discussions here over time. If you have any suggestions or feedback about my current idea for an “about me,” feel free to be honest—I’m here to learn and adjust so that my profile looks like a normal member who enjoys hanging out online, relaxing in a parke pullover hoodie, and talking with people from all over the world.
