I kept seeing people talk about push and pop traffic for Adult Vertical Ads, and honestly, I wasn’t sure which one actually made sense. Some folks swear push is cleaner and more engaging, while others say pop still brings cheap clicks that convert. It left me wondering if one was clearly better or if it just depends on how you use it.
The biggest struggle for me was budget. I didn’t want to waste money testing both without a clear idea of what to expect. Push looked safer since users choose to see notifications, but pops felt risky because they can annoy people. At the same time, pops were way cheaper, so ignoring them didn’t feel smart either.
So I tried both. With push traffic, I noticed engagement felt more real. Clicks were fewer but slightly more consistent. Creatives mattered a lot. If the message was boring, nothing happened. Pops were the opposite. Tons of traffic quickly, but quality was mixed. Some campaigns got conversions fast, others burned money before I could figure out why.
One thing I learned is that push works better when the offer needs a bit of attention or curiosity. Pops seemed stronger for simple offers where people decide fast. Timing also mattered more than I expected. Running pops during high traffic hours helped, while push needed better targeting rather than just volume.
What helped me most was not treating it like a competition. Instead, I started using push to test messaging and pops to scale whatever already showed signs of working. That shift made results feel less random.
I still don’t think there’s a single winner. It depends on budget, patience, and how much testing you’re willing to do. If you’re just starting, trying small tests on both gives a clearer answer than following opinions. That was the biggest takeaway for me.
