Full Version: Why is Kyle/Carol so awful

The only post-John's lantern books I read were Red Lanterns and Sinestro, but by the end of Lights Out, I could tell it was a horrible concept.

(Whenever someone asks why Vendetti Flash is so bad, I'm expecting a tirade similar to the one the Flash fan had.)

It's nonsensical, and the new guardians seem to be acting strangely. (GL issue 6 and New Guardians issue 0 show that Hal had truly fixed up and their relationship was perfect, he was even about to propose.) In Vendetti's debut issue, Carol breaks up with Hal for reasons that are either nonsensical or were resolved near the conclusion of Johns' tenure. That's awful enough, but even though Lights Out couldn't have occurred more than a month after Kyle and Carol's actual team-up, it happened, and now she loves Kyle.

Now, let me remind you that Carol was much more concerned with locating Hal and ensuring his survival during this period (Rise of the Third Army and Wrath of the Lantern) than she was with assisting Kyle in becoming space Jesus. Therefore, it defies logic that she would fall in love with Kyle so quickly after an already foolish breakup.

Now, one of her grievances with Hal was that he was constantly wearing his GL ring, spent too much time in space, and had no stable life on Earth (remember, this was something the two of them worked out before Sinestro and Indigo 1 took him away against his will). After the corps believes Kyle is dead, what does she do with him? She spends a lot of time in space with him, never removing her sapphire star ring or even running her business on Earth.
