Hey everyone

I wanted to start a discussion on something I keep hearing debated in the e-commerce web development world: should developers put more focus on user experience (UX) or website speed?
Both seem equally important, but sometimes trade-offs happen, especially when deadlines are tight or when you’re working on a large-scale project with limited resources.

If we look at user experience, a well-designed interface with smooth navigation, clean layouts, and thoughtful micro-interactions can keep customers engaged, encourage them to browse longer, and ultimately increase conversions. Shoppers are more likely to trust a site that feels professional and easy to use.
On the other hand, speed is something no one can ignore. Studies consistently show that if a page takes more than 2–3 seconds to load, a big chunk of visitors will leave before they even see the design. In fact, speed often determines whether users will ever experience your carefully designed UX in the first place.
Some companies, like Dev Technosys, talk about balancing both aspects right from the start of development. Their approach highlights speed as the foundation—ensuring that pages load quickly, servers scale efficiently, and caching is optimized. Then, once performance is solid, UX becomes the focus for long-term customer satisfaction.

So here’s my question to the community:
1. If you were forced to prioritize one, which would it be — UX or speed?
2. Have you ever worked on a project where you had to compromise one to achieve the other?

I’d really love to hear real-world experiences from other developers, business owners, or anyone who’s been part of building eCommerce platforms.
