Hey everyone!
I’m looking for suggestions on a great Train Museum near me to visit with my family. We’re big fans of trains and would love to explore a place that offers a mix of history, real locomotives, and maybe even a model train exhibit.
I’ve heard about Northlandz in New Jersey and it looks incredible. Has anyone here been there? Is it really as massive as people say? I’m especially interested in places that are kid-friendly but also fun for adults. Something with interactive displays, maybe a ride-on train, and of course, plenty of photo opportunities!
If you know of any hidden gems or popular train museums in your area that are worth checking out, I’d love to hear about them. Even smaller museums with great local history or restored trains would be awesome.
Also, feel free to share tips for making the most out of the visit—like the best times to go, how much time to plan for, or if they offer special weekend events. We're hoping to plan a full day around the trip, so anything nearby like a good food spot or gift shop is a plus too.
We’re also curious if some museums offer model train demonstrations or workshops where kids can participate. If there are any events that include live steam engine runs or themed exhibitions, please let me know! Looking forward to your recommendations
