Why do I struggle with TOEFL Writing, and how can I improve?
#1
TOEFL Writing is often one of the most challenging sections for test-takers because it requires not only good grammar and vocabulary but also the ability to organize ideas clearly under strict time limits.

The integrated task, in particular, demands strong academic skills since you must carefully read a passage, listen to a lecture, and then synthesize the key points into a well-structured written response without inserting your personal opinion.

Many students struggle here because they either focus too much on one source or fail to connect the reading and listening effectively. This is where focused TOEFL coaching becomes incredibly valuable.

With proper guidance, students learn how to outline their essays quickly, identify main ideas, and use linking words and transitions to create clarity and flow.

I work with my students on building strong essay structures—introduction, body, and conclusion—while also showing them how to paraphrase and summarize effectively.

In addition, I often recommend practicing with a PTE mock test, especially the integrated writing parts, since the skills tested there—summarizing spoken and written material—are very similar to TOEFL’s integrated writing task.

This cross-practice not only boosts confidence but also reinforces essential academic writing abilities that directly transfer to the TOEFL exam. By combining structured coaching, timed practice, and exposure to similar test formats, students can steadily strengthen their writing performance and aim for higher scores.
