I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how fast trends move in streetwear — brands blow up overnight, then disappear just as fast. But Stussy? It’s different. It’s one of the few OG brands that’s managed to stay relevant for decades without selling out or losing its identity.
Started in the early '80s by Shawn Stussy, the brand pretty much invented what we now call streetwear. Back then, it wasn’t even a "scene" yet — just surfers and skaters looking for something that felt like them. That handwritten logo? Straight from his surfboards.
What I respect most is how Stussy has evolved. They didn’t just stick with one look — they’ve grown with the culture. Collaborations with Nike, Comme des Garçons, Supreme, and even Dior show how versatile and respected the brand is in both street and luxury circles.
Also, if you’re into vintage fashion, older Stussy clothing pieces are gold. The quality holds up and the designs don’t age — especially those classic 8-ball and tribal prints.
Even now, their drops are super wearable — subtle but still statement-making. The fact that people still line up or camp online for a new Stussy hoodie or cap tells you everything you need to know.
So yeah — just wanted to open up the convo:
Why do you think Stussy has managed to survive when so many other brands burn out?
And what’s your favorite Stussy piece in your collection (or dream piece you want to grab)?
Let’s talk about it.
