Hey everyone,
I just wanted to share a little love for something that still brings real value to our community — Kearney FM, our very own local radio station in the North East of England. While I’m all for streaming services and podcasts, nothing quite compares to the familiar voices and local focus of Kearney FM.
I’ve been listening regularly for the past year, and what sets it apart is how in touch it is with local life. Whether it’s the latest news in Newcastle, weather updates in Sunderland, or interviews with folks from Middlesbrough, the station covers what matters to us here — not just the national headlines, but the stories from our streets.
The music is spot on too. It’s not just top 40 hits, but also local talent and throwbacks that really hit home. They’ve played artists I’ve never heard anywhere else and given airtime to small bands that actually live around the corner. It’s great to see a station supporting homegrown music.
Another reason I love Kearney FM is how involved they are with the community. From supporting charity events to promoting small businesses, they go beyond just being “on air.” I’ve discovered two local cafés through ads on their morning show — and both were spot on!
Plus, their team — especially Aaron John in the marketing department — really cares about keeping things fresh and relevant. You can tell they put effort into not just entertaining, but connecting with the people who listen.
Anyway, just wanted to shout them out. If you haven’t tuned in lately, give them a listen online or through FM. It’s a simple way to stay informed, feel connected, and support something local.
Has anyone else here been listening? Would love to hear your thoughts or favourite segments!
— Cheers,
