Why Are So Many Crypto Press Releases Failing in 2025?
#1
I’ve been in Web3 marketing for over 3 years now, and I’ve noticed something that’s only getting worse: even solid, well-written crypto press releases—announcing real updates—are barely making a dent anymore. We’re seeing thousands of dollars poured into PR distribution, yet there’s little to no meaningful traffic, engagement, or impact.

Is it just me, or have most crypto PR platforms become more about vanity than visibility? In 2025, the model feels broken.
This year alone, I’ve tested five different crypto press release distribution services. Some tout placements on Google News. Others push to niche industry sites. One launch we did in May was picked up by over 60 outlets—and still drove under 300 clicks total. Zero lift in followers, no noticeable community growth, no long-tail engagement. It’s wild.
So what's going wrong here?

Is it oversaturation? Poor targeting? Timing? Or is it the fact that most of these services rely on outdated distribution models—syndicating content to low-traffic sites that no one actually reads? And why are we not seeing more integration with high-traffic platforms like CoinMarketCap, CoinGecko, CryptoPanic, or even Reddit aggregators?

More importantly, I want to know what’s actually working for others in 2025. Are you still using PR as a meaningful part of your crypto marketing mix? Or have you shifted entirely to community-led strategies, influencers, and native content?
If you are still getting value from PR, what’s your most effective combo in terms of distribution, timing, content angle, and follow-up? Is there a format or channel that’s actually driving real traffic, conversions, or community interest?
Let’s be honest—most Web3 teams can’t afford to throw $5K at something that only delivers a vanity metric. So what’s the better play?
Curious to hear what others are seeing out there.
