Hi folks,
I’m currently working on setting up a new online store and wanted to get some advice from those who’ve gone through the same process. Magento is a powerful option, but it often feels heavy, resource-intensive, and costly to maintain for smaller teams or businesses. That’s why I’ve been researching open source eCommerce platforms that could serve as reliable alternatives.
My main focus is on finding an open source eCommerce marketplace solution that can handle multi-vendor functionality, product catalog management, secure checkout, and integrations without needing endless paid add-ons. I know there are several open source e-commerce platforms out there — like Bagisto, WooCommerce, PrestaShop, OpenCart, and even Spree Commerce.
I’d love to hear real-world insights from people who’ve actually implemented these:
Thanks in advance!

I’d love to hear real-world insights from people who’ve actually implemented these:
- Which platform did you find most stable and scalable for growing traffic and sales?
- How flexible are they when it comes to customization — like building unique features or integrating with ERPs/CRMs?
- If you wanted a multi-vendor setup (like an eBay-style marketplace), did you rely on built-in features or third-party extensions?
- Any major limitations you wish you knew before starting?
Thanks in advance!
