Hi Ziuma community,
First of all, I just want to say thank you to the admins and members who keep this forum active and well-organized. I’ve been a silent reader for a while now, mostly using Ziuma to find plugin updates, WordPress tips, and software recommendations. The content here is honestly way more helpful than many official sources, and that’s thanks to the community.
Recently, I decided to start contributing and replying to some threads. I wrote a detailed post in response to someone’s question about SEO plugins. In my reply, I included two external links — one to the official plugin page on WordPress.org, and one to a comparison article on a reputable tech blog. However, after submitting the post, I noticed it didn’t appear publicly. I waited a while and refreshed, but still nothing. It seems like it may have been caught in some kind of spam or moderation filter.
So I have a few questions I hope someone can help clarify:
1. Are there specific restrictions on new users when it comes to posting external links?
I understand that most forums have some kind of spam protection system in place (and that’s a good thing), but I didn’t see clear information in the forum rules about what new users can or can’t do when it comes to links. For example, is there a minimum number of posts or days since registration required before we’re allowed to include URLs?
2. Does the spam filter automatically hide or block posts with links — even if they are not promotional?
Both links I included were safe and relevant to the topic. They weren’t affiliate links or anything commercial, so I was a bit surprised that the post didn’t go through. If there’s a way to signal that a post is legitimate, or to request manual approval, I’d be happy to follow that process.
3. Is there a preferred way to format URLs?
Should we use BBCode (like
) instead of pasting the raw URL? Does that help avoid being flagged as spam? I’ve seen different formats used by other members, so I’m wondering if there’s a best practice here.
4. Are there any "trust levels" or ranks in the forum that gradually unlock more features?
Some forums use a system where newer users are limited until they build up a certain amount of activity — like posting, reacting to content, or getting likes. Does Ziuma have something like that? If yes, what are the milestones or thresholds for gaining full posting privileges (especially regarding links, attachments, or images)?
