Problems With CamScanner App – Looking for Solutions and Alternatives
#1
Hello everyone,
I wanted to open a discussion about the CamScanner app since I have been relying on it heavily for both personal and work-related tasks. For years, it has been my go-to mobile tool whenever I needed to scan documents quickly without having to depend on a desktop scanner. It is convenient, fairly accurate, and the OCR feature has saved me several times when I needed to extract text directly from an image.
However, in the past few months, I have noticed a few recurring problems that have started to affect my workflow. First, the app sometimes freezes or crashes when I try to scan a large batch of pages. This usually happens when scanning 10+ documents at once. While restarting the app sometimes fixes it, it becomes frustrating when you are in a hurry. Second, many important features are now hidden behind the premium version, such as exporting files without watermarks or accessing higher-quality scans. For casual users or students, paying for a full subscription can feel a bit expensive. Lastly, some of my scans have appeared darker than expected, which makes the final document less readable unless I edit the brightness and contrast manually.
I am curious if other members of this community have faced similar issues with CamScanner. Did you find any fixes, such as adjusting phone settings, clearing cache, or using older app versions? Or did you decide to switch to a different app altogether? Personally, I have been testing a few alternatives to see which one feels lighter and more stable. During my search, I came across this old scanner app that provides a simple interface and doesn’t put heavy restrictions on exports. It reminded me of how CamScanner used to feel a few years ago, before many of the premium limitations were added.
Of course, I know every app has its pros and cons, but I believe it’s worth sharing experiences so that others can benefit. For example, some people prefer Google Drive’s built-in scanning function since it automatically syncs with their cloud storage. Others recommend Adobe Scan because of its integration with PDFs and editing tools. And then there are lighter apps that may not have all the advanced features but do the job quickly and efficiently.
So my question to all of you is: what has been your experience with CamScanner recently? Do you still consider it reliable, or have you moved on to other apps? If you did switch, which one do you think is the best replacement and why? I would love to hear your opinions and advice, especially from those who use mobile scanning regularly for work, school, or managing personal documents.
Looking forward to your thoughts!
