Learning by Doing: My Attempt at a Messaging App
#1
Hi everyone!

I'm fairly new to programming and currently building my skills with Python and C#. While I still consider myself a beginner, I’ve decided to take on a small side project to push my learning further—I’m planning to build a basic messaging app inspired by platforms like MirrorFly.

The idea is to start small, focus on core functionality like user authentication, real-time messaging, and perhaps basic voice/video features. If everything works out well, I’d love to scale it further, add more advanced features, and share it with my friends or maybe even release it publicly in the future. I know that’s a big leap from where I am now, but I’m really motivated and excited to see how far I can take it!

Right now, I’m looking for beginner-friendly resources—especially YouTube tutorials or blog articles—that guide developers through building chat or messaging apps from the ground up. Step-by-step content would be super helpful as I learn best by doing while following along.
If any of you have built something similar or have experience in this area, I’d love to hear about your journey. Any tips, tools, frameworks, or challenges you faced would be incredibly valuable to me.

I came across this blog from MirrorFly and found it really helpful:

How to Build an Instant Messaging App for Enterprise? (2025 Guide)

Thanks in advance for any recommendations and suggestions about the application.
