I don’t have Outlook anymore—how can I convert a large PST file to PDF and keep all m
#1
A month ago, I left my company and, before my account was deactivated, the IT department provided me with a PST file containing all my old emails. At the time, I thought it would be easy to access because I assumed a PST file was just another document format. Unfortunately, I later discovered that PST files are tied to Microsoft Outlook, and I no longer have Outlook installed on my personal computer.
For the past two days, I’ve been trying to find a practical solution. Most online tutorials recommend opening the PST in Outlook and then printing emails to PDF. The problem is that I don't have Outlook anymore, and even if I did, the PST contains thousands of emails spread across multiple folders. Manually opening each email and saving it as a PDF would take an unreasonable amount of time.

My main goal is to Convert PST File to PDF so I can access those emails whenever needed without relying on any specific email application. I want something simple that lets me search old conversations, print important emails, and keep records for future reference. Some of the emails contain project discussions, client approvals, invoices, and attachments that may still be useful in my freelance work.
While searching through forums and review sites, I found several recommendations mentioning professional PST conversion utilities. One option that repeatedly appeared was the DRS Softech PST Converter Tool. What interested me was that it claims to open PST files directly without Outlook and allows bulk conversion instead of forcing users to process emails individually. According to the descriptions I found, it can preserve email headers, sender details, timestamps, attachments, and original formatting during conversion.

Another challenge is that my PST file is fairly large, around 7 GB, and contains years of archived data. I’m worried that free solutions may either crash, skip emails, or fail to preserve folder structure. Since these emails are important, accuracy matters more to me than simply getting the conversion done quickly.
Has anyone here dealt with a similar situation after leaving a company or switching away from Outlook? What method did you use to access your PST archive? Were you able to convert large mailboxes successfully, and did the PDF files retain all the important information? I’d really appreciate hearing real-world experiences before I spend more time experimenting with solutions that may not work. My priority is finding a reliable way to preserve years of email history without losing data or spending days manually exporting messages.
