How to migrate NSF address book into VCF for Apple iPhone Contacts?
#1
I have an old Lotus Notes NSF file that contains all my contacts, and I need to move them into my iPhone Contacts app. Since iPhone supports the VCF (vCard) format, I am looking for a way to convert/export the NSF address book into VCF files. Can someone suggest a reliable method or tool that can help with this migration? I would prefer a solution that keeps all contact details (like email, phone numbers, address, etc.) intact during the conversion.

You can do this in a couple of ways, depending on whether you prefer a manual process or using a specialized tool:
1. Manual Method (via Lotus Notes & Export):
  • Open Lotus Notes and go to your Contacts / Address Book.
  • Select the contacts you want to export.
  • Click File > Export.
  • Choose a location, and under file type, pick VCF (vCard) if available.
  • If Lotus Notes only allows CSV export, export as CSV first, then use a free online converter or tool to convert CSV → VCF.
  • Once you have the VCF file, transfer it to your iPhone via iCloud, email, or iTunes, then import the contacts.
2. Using Third-Party Tools:
Some dedicated NSF to VCF converters can directly extract contacts from the NSF database and convert them into vCard format (compatible with iPhone). This is faster and less error-prone if you have a large address book.
3. Import to iPhone:
  • Email the VCF to yourself and open it on your iPhone (tap → “Add All Contacts”), or
  • Upload the VCF to iCloud Contacts on your desktop; they’ll sync to your iPhone automatically.
Tip: Always back up your NSF file before migration, so you don’t risk losing data.
