Does alum really help tighten the skin?
#1
Wink
I recently came across a traditional remedy that uses alum for skin tightening, and it honestly caught my attention because of how simple it is. You just mix a small amount of alum powder with water or rose water to create a paste. Once it's smooth, you apply it gently to your face—being careful to avoid the sensitive areas around the eyes. After leaving it on for about 10 to 15 minutes, you start to feel this tightening effect on your skin. It kind of feels like your pores are shrinking, which is what many people claim alum helps with.

After washing it off with lukewarm water, it’s really important to apply a moisturizer. Alum for skin tightening works because it has natural astringent properties that can make the skin feel firmer and look smoother, but it can also be drying if not followed up with hydration. From what I’ve read and heard, doing this just once or twice a week is enough to start seeing some visible results over time.

Some people also use alum in their skincare for reducing oiliness, tightening open pores, and even fading minor acne scars. It’s interesting how something so basic—something often used for shaving or water purification—can also be part of a skincare routine.

I haven’t been using it long enough to say anything definitive, but the initial results feel promising. So I’m curious—has anyone here tried using alum for skin tightening regularly? Did you notice any lasting difference in skin texture, firmness, or pore size?
