Combining Semaglutide with Other Medications
#1
I’ve been on semaglutide for about three months now. At first, it felt like such a relief—my appetite finally wasn’t controlling me, and I dropped a few pounds without constantly thinking about food. But now that I’ve started a new medication for migraines, things have gotten confusing. I feel more nauseous than usual, and not in the “mild side effect” kind of way—it’s the kind of nausea that comes in waves and knocks me out for the rest of the day. On top of that, I’ve been experiencing some dizziness that I didn’t have before, and honestly, it’s starting to make me anxious about going out or even doing simple things like grocery shopping.
It’s frustrating because I was finally starting to feel like I had some control over my health again. I’d gotten into a routine with semaglutide, figured out when to take it and how to space meals, and it was working. But this new medication seems to be throwing everything out of balance. I don’t know if they’re interacting or if it’s just too much for my body at once. I’ve tried adjusting when I take each one, drinking more water, eating smaller meals, but nothing really seems to help consistently. Some days I feel fine, and other days it’s like my system is totally overloaded. I want to keep using semaglutide because it’s helping, but I’m worried I’m doing more harm than good now. If anyone’s had a similar experience combining meds, I’d really appreciate hearing how you managed.

I totally get that. When I started semaglutide, I was also on a beta blocker for high blood pressure and something for my mood swings. It took a while to understand how they were all interacting. At one point, I thought the fatigue was just from work stress, but turns out it was more layered than that. I came across an article on / that helped me make sense of the way semaglutide can shift how your body processes other meds—it was really validating to see it explained clearly. Sometimes it’s not about stopping anything, just tweaking how and when you take it.
