Anyone Tried Bitumen or Asphalt Driveway in Sydney?
#1
Hey everyone,
I'm currently looking to resurface my driveway and could really use some input from people who’ve already been through this process. After doing some basic research, I’ve narrowed it down to two options: asphalt and bitumen. Both seem pretty common here, but I’m not sure which one makes more sense for the long run in terms of durability, maintenance, and cost.

I’ve been browsing around and came across a few asphalt contractors in Sydney, and some of their work looks impressive online. One name that popped up a couple of times was Syd Surfacing PTY LTD—their portfolio seems solid, but as we all know, pictures don’t always tell the full story. So before I go ahead and contact anyone, I’d love to hear if anyone here has had direct experience with asphalt driveways. How well do they handle Sydney’s climate, especially the hot summers and sudden rain spells?

On the other hand, I’ve read that bitumen driveways in Sydney can be a more cost-effective option. But I’m wondering—do they hold up just as well, or do they start showing signs of wear sooner than asphalt? I’m not too concerned about having the most “premium” look, but I do want something that’ll last without frequent patch-ups or major repairs.

So, if anyone’s had either of these installed recently, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience. How was the installation process? Any contractors you'd recommend or suggest avoiding? And most importantly, are you happy with how it's holding up today?
Thanks in advance for any feedback!
